The motivation and vision for this painting, 'Moderne Profiles', came to me while leafing through my collection of Art Deco books. The individuality and prolific amount of artwork that came out of the Art Deco Era of the 1920's and 1930's is my greatest source of inspiration.  I love ziggurat designs and wanted to use them in an original painting of my own. For this painting I used many of the techniques I had used while painting my Egyptian Art Deco series of paintings.  On the linear and ziggurat  shapes I added plaster (or Spackle) to give the painting texture. The silver gray areas were rendered using metallic acrylic paint that give those areas  a mottled irredescence.  Each of the four flappers has her own individual hairstyle, nose, and lip shape.
